SAMBA CHULA de SAO BRAZ
Chula is Brazil's primordial samba, daughter of the semba, carried to Bahia by African Bantu slaves and grown up on the sugarcane plantations. Chula is in danger of dying out, although you might doubt that when you encounter the vital energy of the veteran brothers Joao and Antonio Saturno. Together with their friends and family from the small community of Sao Braz, they're keeping this seminal style very much alive. Not to be missed!

DIABEL CISSOKHO
Virtuoso kora player and singer Diabel Cissokho is part of the great line of Cissokho griots. He grew up in Dakar, surrounded by a rich musical heritage and a family of musicians. "There are maybe 30 koras in our house!" says Diabel who began playing when he was 4. Diabel has played with Baba Maal, Nuru Kane, Kandia Kouyate and Mama Draba. His powerful voice and rocking kora style have been welcomed everywhere from Womad and Glastonbury to London’s Barbican, where he recently performed alongside Femi Kuti, Cheikh Lo and Manu Dibango. A favourite at Momo, Diabel effortlessly brings magic to the music!
